In use
Set the Vinyl Record, Yellow & Blue on a flat surface out of direct sunlight, in a room of 68 to 75°F, and switch it on. The wax flows after 2 to 3 hours. Switch the lamp off after 10 hours at most and give it 2 to 3 hours to cool before you move it.

Lava lamps are not a normal light. You have to know what you're getting into before you have and use one. There are days and hours that I make a conscious decision not to turn it on, won't be on long enough or might neglect it. These need literally a few hours to get going, but if you were to leave it all day, it will start to crisp up and get ruined (as a teen, I had two and ruined one by being on too long). I got the original and thought it seemed a little smaller than I had wanted but the look, quality, and function have all been great.
Don't expect much. Clump at top and at bottom. Wasted money.
Was very disappointed in this product. I set it up and light came on and I waited and waited and waited. The lamp did get warm and was on for hours. It bubbled up from the bottom like once and that was it. No movement after that. I left it on for a few more hours but turned it off due to excessive heat. Disappointed. Yes don't buy this lamp. Extremely disappointed.
